Product and Furniture designer currently working as a Design Educator.

I design and make with pretty much anything I can get my hands on. I wouldn’t confine myself to one specific medium; instead, I explore all of the materials and methods of making available to me. Designs are often born with materials acting as the initial inspiration. Being resourceful in this way is not only sustainable but provides a unique challenge where the creative process is constantly in flux. It is absolutely necessary to react to the micro and macro changes within a project as this is where the most valuable learning happens.

AfterGraft acts as base where I can experiment and make things that sit somewhere between pretty and functional.

My previous work has spanned from paintings and sculptures to furniture and lighting design.

The Lithoid Vessel series is inspired by the Japanese ceramic technique of Kurinuki, traditionally, this process involves carving clay into a hollow form using reductive methods like scraping, peeling, and cutting. The resulting pieces beautifully capture the exact moment the maker’s tool meets the material.

The Lithoid series takes this notion and combines woodturning with precise angled cuts to create a sculptural and tactile form that balances an angular, rock-like exterior and a smooth, flowing concave. When placed in context, light catches each facet, creating a dramatic chiaroscuro effect.

Named after the term lithoid—meaning "resembling stone or rock"—the series evokes the enduring qualities of weathered geological forms.

Turned from reclaimed pine right here in the AfterGraft studio. For enthusiasts of artisanal objects, honest materials and local manufacturing.

This particular bowl has been manufactured from industrial furniture manufacturing offcuts, making it an excellent sustainable choice for your home. Pine is a softwood, and when you can find a piece without any knots, it makes a fantastic bowl, as the grain pattern is stunning and it finishes well with natural oils as well as stains.

Each bowl is unique and the style may never be produced again, although commissions are available upon request.

Introducing the ‘Burnt Remnants’ collection.

With a recently acquired abundance of reclaimed roof joists and furniture offcuts, I turned this overlooked refuse into a series that employs minimal technical processing and a Yakisugi-inspired finishing technique. The volatile nature of the materials and manufacturing methods leads to a beautifully imperfect final outcome every time.

Currently a series of side tables have been produced for this collection, although this is expected to grow as new designs are prototyped and manufactured.

Off-cut stool table

Moving back into furniture making has been a great learning process. The final outcome has been influenced by the tools and materials I had at hand. The one-off nature of this design also means I will not make another one. Instead, I will take the lessons learned through making to improve my future projects.
